About Olivet University
Biblical Higher Education
Olivet University is a private Christian institution dedicated to preparing students for lives of ministry, leadership, and service. With a mission grounded in biblical truth, Olivet strives to integrate faith, learning, and practical experience to equip students who will impact their communities and the world for the sake of Christ. Since its founding, the university has remained committed to its purpose of cultivating servant-leaders who embody humility, wisdom, and compassion.
Origins and Founding Purpose
The story of Olivet University began in 2000 with the establishment of the Olivet Theological College & Seminary (OTCS). The seminary was founded to train men and women for global missions through rigorous theological study and practical ministry training. OTCS quickly gained recognition for its commitment to accessibility, offering both on-campus and distance learning opportunities to students worldwide. Its early mission was clear to equip believers to serve effectively in the church and beyond while remaining deeply rooted in the Word of God.
In 2004, under the visionary leadership of the late Dr. Ralph D. Winter, OTCS transitioned into Olivet University. Dr. Winter, a respected theologian and missionary strategist, guided the transformation with a broader vision to create a “sanctuary of truth” where faith and scholarship could unite in pursuit of God’s mission. This new identity expanded the university’s programs beyond theology to include disciplines such as education, media, business, and the arts, all taught from a Christian worldview.
A Campus Built for Faith and Growth
The main campus of Olivet University is nestled in the quiet beauty of Anza Valley, California. Its serene surroundings create an ideal environment for study, prayer, and reflection. Students are encouraged to pursue both academic excellence and spiritual depth, recognizing that authentic leadership stems from a strong foundation of faith. Beyond its main campus, Olivet has established locations in several major U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, St. Louis, Orlando, Nashville, and Washington, D.C., enabling the university to serve a diverse student population while maintaining its Christ-centered mission.
Olivet’s academic structure reflects its holistic approach to education. Every program emphasizes the integration of faith with knowledge and the application of biblical principles to real-world challenges. Professors are not only educators but also mentors who guide students in both intellectual and spiritual development. The university’s smaller class sizes encourage personal engagement, discussion, and discipleship.
Faith in Action
Faith is the heartbeat of Olivet University. Students participate in weekly chapel services, prayer gatherings, and small group Bible studies that strengthen their spiritual lives and foster genuine community. These moments of worship and fellowship are central to the Olivet experience, helping students stay grounded in their relationship with God while pursuing their academic goals.
Service is also at the core of Olivet’s mission. The university encourages students to put their faith into practice through acts of service, both locally and globally. Students volunteer at community events, organize charity drives, and participate in mission projects that address real-world needs. Whether it’s serving meals to the hungry, assisting local churches, or participating in global outreach programs, Olivet students learn that leadership means serving others first.
Mentorship, Leadership, and Lifelong Purpose
Olivet University fosters a close-knit community where students receive personalized guidance and support. Faculty members, pastors, and visiting speakers invest in students’ growth, helping them discover their unique gifts and callings. The university regularly hosts guest lectures, workshops, and ministry seminars that connect classroom learning with real-world application.
Many Olivet graduates go on to serve as pastors, educators, nonprofit leaders, and professionals in fields where they continue to live out their faith. Alums often return to campus to mentor students, share their experiences, and contribute to the university’s mission of developing servant-leaders for God’s kingdom.
Continuing the Mission
Today, Olivet University continues to uphold its founding vision of combining faith, education, and service. The institution remains committed to equipping students who are ready to make a positive impact in their spiritual, professional, and global endeavors. Its unwavering focus on Christ-centered education ensures that every graduate leaves prepared to lead with conviction, compassion, and integrity.
Olivet University stands as a place where faith inspires learning and learning transforms lives. With a growing community of believers, educators, and visionaries, Olivet continues its mission to raise leaders who carry God’s truth into every corner of the world.
